This place is such a vibe. A solid staple for whenever you're craving good food, good coffee and a no frills environment that makes you feel like you're dining in a time capsule from the 1960's and beyond. When you walk you're greeted by mirror paned walls speckled with random pieces of Philly nostalgia. Booths line one side while a counter lines the other and while the initial interpretation might leave you worried about having to wait, the place is quite spacious albeit narrow. Before even being seated, the waitress turned her head while walking us to the table and said, I'll get cha's wooder and coffee, k? Absolutely. Love it already. The menu is a mix blend of classics and imaginative spins. For our brunch we opted for "The Fishtown Scrapettizer" which is not your typical pork-centric scrapple. No, this scrapple is freaking delicious. Made with white fish and fried in a thick square, placed a top of thick sliced tomato with a zesty mayo-based sauce then topped with a fried egg and sliced pepperoncini. Definitely order this. Next we opted for the "Shopsins Scramble" which came with eggs scrambled with blue cheese, bacon, baby spinach and avocado + choice of toast and potatoes or hash browns. I opted for rye and hash and both were delicious. All in all a good option and the blue cheese was an interesting addition to eggs I've never had before. Next was the classic #2 (2 eggs + 2 pancakes.+ choice of meat. Option for cheddar, American or Cooper Sharp for the cheese). Love the option for Cooper sharp and the bacon was perfectly crispy. Overall a good dish. Have heard fantastic things about their buttermilk pancakes and while solid, not completely blown away (there's a clubhouse near by that still can't be beat when it comes to breakfast cakes). Note that prices fluctuate bc of eggs so what's listed on the menu isn't what you'll likely see reflected on your check. And speaking of, this place is a classic CASH ONLY (but they do have an ATM in the back). Sullimays. A sweet soulful spot that is a great place to grab breakfast or brunch with a group of good people.

The waitress was really kind and the place had a traditional old school diner feel. The hash browns and eggs were good, but the corn beef hash was lacking a little in flavor. Will be back!

Awesome place for brunch! Waiters are efficient and attentive. The hash browns and seasoned potatoes were the starssss. I’ve never had such crispy hash browns and the seasoning on the seasoned taters were just right and pretty crispy. The French toast felt a little lacking, didn’t taste any of the salted caramel and the toast itself was kinda flavorless. Strawberries also tasted like they were previously frozen, not fresh. Egg dishes were all on point. No complaints. They also had a giant cart full of different types of hot sauce. Overall would definitely come back for brunch.

Classic upscale diner experience. You'll get leveled-up breakfast standards and you'll leave stuffed and satisfied. Perfect for the morning after. First, I had to try the Fishtown Scrapple. On the menu it says the "scrappletizer" is world famous, clearly their flagship dish. The presentation was exceptional: a crispy square of whitefish scrapple resting on a tomato, a spicy pink sauce underneath, one sunny side up egg on top. Honestly, the scrapple was a little bland. You can't taste the fish or the traditional allspice and sage. I wasn't unhappy, but I also wasn't impressed. My son had some giant chocolate chip pancakes with turkey bacon and cheese eggs. The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs were moist, the turkey bacon was crisp without being dry. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were big and fluffy, but they were a little under-seasoned and there wasn't much buttermilk tang. The gravy has great sage sausage flavor, but it was a little too thick. The home fries were the best thing I ate. Sulimays does them right: boiled, chilled, cut, fried. They have that perfect mouthfeel where the outside is crispy, but the inside is buoyant and creamy...not mushy or mealy. If I go back I'd probably order sausage gravy over home fries with some eggs on top. Fancy diner food with big portions is a well-trodden formula that will always satisfy. Sulimay's pulls it off admirably. Nothing will blow your mind, and some things require a big shake of salt & pepper--perhaps some hot sauce from their giant collection--but still, it's a good breakfast spot with heavy-handed Philly, Fishtown, 215 area code, decor.

Stopped by for breakfast on Monday on the way out of Philly after reading glowing reviews and I'm glad I did. The atmosphere was cozy and the vibes great. Wife had the Pig heaven and I had the biscuits and gravy. First time trying scrapple and it was just as good as I was hoping for. The biscuits and gravy were also hands down some of the best I've ever had and we come from the land of breakfast and brunch aka Portland Oregon. And I wish we had a place like Sulimays in Portland because it was just that damn good!
